Like many African countries, European settlers arbitrarily drew boundaries for their colonies on the continent. The Portuguese were no different. Therefore, Angola is made up of many different tribes and ethnic groups within its borders.

The giant black sable antelope, Angola’s national symbol, can only be found within the country’s borders and nowhere else in the world. In fact, many considered it extinct until it was discovered recently.
